Summary/Abstract: The topic is the private archive (as a material legacy and historiographic practice) of Jan Wantuła from Ustroń - a peasant bibliophile and autodidact historian, a researcher of the past of Cieszyn Silesia [Śląsk Cieszyński] and Lutheranism. The author elaborates on three topics corresponding to the three understandings of “extension of archive”: firstly, she discusses the manner he employed to claim a space for the evangelicals in the Polish historical discourse; secondly, she analyses the expressions and aporias of his “cataloguing frenzy”; thirdly, she ponders on the meaning of “extension” of Wantuła’s archive through a critical consideration of his writings and assumptions.
