Summary/Abstract: The issues of sustainable development and environmental protection increasingly determine conducting and establishing business activities. The dominant trend in most industrialised countries is to promote systems and concepts that foster the implementation of sustainable development in enterprises, especially in small and medium-sized ones. Examples of solutions include environmental management systems according to EMAS or ISO 14001 and Corporate Social Responsibility, which are reflected not only in strategies for sustainable development of the United Nations and the European Union, but also in Poland.
