Summary/Abstract: The paper is aimed at a comparative analysis of the impact on the environment exerted by the selected and different types of automotive fuels. They are analysed in their entire life cycle. It should help to verify one hypothesis that renewable biofuels are less harmful to the environment in comparison with non-renewable fuels produced from oil. Life Cycle method was applied to assess the wide spectrum of impacts generated from “the cradle to the grave” of two selected fuels: motor petrol and bioethanol. The initial comparison related to bioethanol with motor petrol and was done with the help of widely available studies and data base. This general evaluation was supplemented by our own quantitative assessment which adopted “Eco-indicator 99” for our comparison study.
