Access barriers for SMEs from the Sieradz region to sources of external financing

Summary/Abstract: In her article, the author presents the results of surveys on the factors causing an impeded access to the sources of external financing by SMEs of the Sieradz Region. The surveys show that the most important factors causing occurrence of this development barrier are, first of all, a high cost, too many formalities and a high time-consumption of procedures. Entrepreneurs have assessed that the degree of development of the market for financial services in the region is modest. The majority of the sources of financing were scored by the surveyed entrepreneurs as 0 (inaccessible source), 1 (hard accessible source) or 2 (medium-accessible source). The least number of zero scores was attributed to leasing, bank credits and trade credits.
