Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with the issues of the origin and development of the Chetnik movement in Herzegovina, the character of its ideological form and its implications for the wider social community. A special accent was put on the positioning of Herzegovinian Muslims who for decades, from the Greater Serbian circles, “recommends the return to the Fraternal Faith”. Nevertheless, these “recommendations” have always circumvented a very important fact, that is, national identity has been declared and lived, although two completely different types of reality are closely linked at an affective and cognitive level, which is characteristic when it comes to unspoken ethnic identity . If we carefully analyze the Greater Serbian idea, we will notice that it never had this character.
