Summary/Abstract: The article purports to present the situation of Cetatea Albă-Ismail Bishopric after the return of the Romanian authorities in Bessarabia, in 1941. Bishop Policarp Moruşca, who coordinated the activity of this eparchy for a long time, had to solve in 1941 some serious issues, caused by the wide religious persecutions carried out by the Soviets during the Bolshevik occupation (priests were killed or deported, churches were ruined or vandalised, the institutions of the bishopric were dissolved). The documents show the remarkable effort made by the priests from Cetatea Albă- Ismail Bishopric in order to rebuild the religious life from the South of Bessarabia, as well as their contribution to reorganising ecclesiastical life in Transnistria.
