Summary/Abstract: The present paper analyses the concerns of the Romanian authorities, wanting to meet the cereal exporters from South Bessarabia, for a port at the mouth of Dniester, in Bugaz, town with a century-old port tradition. It includes the studies carried out at the time, the port fittings and traffic through Bugaz to Constanţa port, up to 1940, when Bessarabia was surrendered to USSR, upon the political and military pressure of the latter.
