Summary/Abstract: Fairs are an important link between supply and demand. They help to promote production and stabilize the market. As a meeting-place for producers and buyers from several countries, international fairs contribute, in addition, to the expansion of external trade. The operation of fairs in Yugoslavia was for the first time regulated by statutory provisions by the Basic Trade Act passed in January 1967, which defines their work as the performance of trading services. Under the same law business organizations which hold fairs are bound to abide by the dates fixed in the Calendar of Fairs. This schedule is drawn up by the fairs, by mutual agreement, in the Federal Economic Chamber.
