Summary/Abstract: The organization and methods of building up a system of national defense are a component part of the general system, organization and methods of construction of Yugoslav socialist society based on self-management. The role and system of national defense are in principle outlined in the Yugoslav Constitution and the National Defense Act. According to these, the principal factors responsible for all activities associated with national defense are the working people and citizens. National defense and all relevant affairs are the responsibility of all factors in Yugoslav self-managing society, i.e. the working people in work organizations (radna organizacija), socio-political communities , and socio-political organizations and associations.
