Summary/Abstract: In its application to date the Constitution of Yugoslavia has fully asserted itself both with regard to its basic principles and conceptual framework.1 Having sanctioned the level of social development attained, the Constitution has engendered conditions for the consolidation and further development of the socioeconomic and political system based on labor freed from any form of exploitation, on self-management, democracy, federalism and the power of working people. The implementation of the basic principles of the Constitution depends, however, on many social and political factors, primarily on the extent to which the role of the State has been reduced in the sphere of socio-economic relationships, and on the level of development of socialist relations based on self-management.
