Summary/Abstract: Horse racing has a long standing tradition in Yugoslavia. In Mačva, Pomoravlje, Semberija, round Nevesinje, on Mount Durmitor and in many other areas horse races have been a regular fixture at various folk and village festivities for many centuries. This is why horsemanship is fairly widespread in Yugoslavia.
