Summary/Abstract: Managing reproduction as an appliance of Western family planning to the Third World - mostly, could be subject of the anthropological inquiry by investigating the population policy, but also by supplying anthropological methods and expertise to the policy-makers. Basic social and cultural factors of human reproduction are discussed in the paper, with an accent on local contexts, when reviewing reproductive concepts and practices.
