Summary/Abstract: The facts about origin of Roma people, their socio-cultural characteristics and social position were presented in the first part of this article. The social-psychological aspect of the sterotypes about Romas was presented in the second part of the text. The examples of different types of discrimination against Roma from social reality of Serbia and FR Yugoslavia, noted in the press and law practice, were presented in the third part of the article. In that way was made the attempt of connecting the social-psychological and the law aspect of the noticed problem. This article is the attempt of pointing to the fact that the question of protection of human rights and minority rights of Roma is not only the problem of law and law practice, but is the problem of prejudices of majority non-Roma population against Roma, which are the one of the sources of negative social position of Roma people in FR Yugoslavia, and throughout Europe and world.
