Summary/Abstract: From 1952 to 1969, notable progress was made in the expansion of industry in Yugoslavia, with output increasing 5.6 times, the labor force 2.5 times, and the productivity of labor more than 2 times. As a result industry took a substantially different place in the Yugoslav economy. These changes were noted in all constituent republics. A rise in output, employment and labor productivity was a general feature of industrial development in each constituent republic. Industrial production and the labor force grew fastest in the least developed republics, while the rise in productivity was more even. (Table I).
