Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study was to identify the main determinants of the level of own potential incomeof rural communes in Wielkopolska province. In the first stage of the study we analyzed the level of ownpotential income of rural communes in Wielkopolska province in the years 2005–2015. In the second stageof the study was carried out to identify the main determinants of own potential income of surveyed communesusing factor analysis. The study showed that the own potential income grew steadily in study groupsof communes and in other surveyed groups. Against the background of the country and urban centers, ruralcommunes characterize the lowest level of own income per capita but also they are the most diverse group ofcommunes in this respect. The results of the factor analysis confirmed the legitimacy of its use and allowedto extract the common factors determining the level of own income per capita of rural communes: level of urbanizationand economic potential, spatial conditions, labor market, level of demographic burden and landuse planning. Created common factors were used as predictors in the linear regression model. The strongestfactor influencing to the level of own income per capita of rural communes in Wielkopolska province turnedout to be the level of urbanization and economic potential and spatial conditions.
