Summary/Abstract: The various socio-economic measures taken in 1960—1970, especially during the implementation of the Economic Reform, were greatly conducive to the expansion of agricultural production. Socialist holdings were consolidated and modernized to become large productive units operating on a high technological level. At the same time there were far-reaching changes in the technological and socio-economic characteristics of private farms following their increasing efforts to switch to market production.] The above processes resulted in a redistribution of total land area both between socialist and private agricultural holdings and within these two groups of holdings.
