Summary/Abstract: The United Nations Conference on the Human Environment was held in Stockholm from June 5—16, 1972. It was the first United Nations conference devoted to environmental problems. There were 17 items on the agenda, 9 of which were of a procedural character, while 8 related to the following most important subjects: Planning and Management of Human Settlements for Environmental Quality (Subject I), Environmental Aspects of Natural Resources Management (Subject II), Identification and Control of Pollutants of International Significance (Subject III), Educational, Informational, Social and Cultural Aspects of Environmental Issues (Subject IV), Development and Environment (Subject V), and International Organizational Implications of Action Proposals (Subject VI). The Conference worked in plenary session, four committees, and a working group for the preparation of a draft declaration.
