Summary/Abstract: The issue of presidential powers and their relationship with the manner of election of the President of the Republic is the determinant, which greatly affects the position of head of state in the political system. This problem is even more gained in importance and it is important to actualize bearing in mind that the elections were held in many countries in Europe (elections in R. Greek, Republic Croatia, previously in Republic of Serbia, R. France and R. Italy) as and because of the frequent highlighting the need to change the method of electing the President of the Republic (when a particular word about our country). Based on the position of the head of state through the history and forms of organization we dealt with the basic postulates of the head of the state Republican constitutional arrangements. Then we showed we have the degree of correlation with the authority and the method of appointing the head of state in countries which are the subject of our research, with the aim of finding possible solutions regulicije this issue in our country.
