Limitations For Property Purchase In European Countries

Summary/Abstract: The issue of restrictions on the purchase of real estate in the EU today is more than relevant. The authors of this article attempt to give a brief overview and to illustrate the situation in relevant countries. The authors specifically address the limitations of the purchase of buildings, special parts of buildings and other facilities, but they mentioned constraints involved regarding the purchase of land. The limitations are divided into administrative and financial, security and environmental, what may help to further explain and systematization of this concept. In the article we can see limitation of 6 countries, which have been selected in order to satisfy the criterion of the research spectrum limitations for the purchase of property in the old and new EU member states, as well as in Croatia, which share a common legal history with Serbia. As a conclusion and some kind of recommendation is given the tendency of liberalization, and the abolition of restrictions in respect of acquisition of immovable property, which is in line with the freedom of movement of capital.
