Summary/Abstract: Interdependence of changes in the structure of imports and domestic demand has been a salient feature of the Yugoslav economy throughout the postwar period. Until the end of the Fifties investment and general government expenditure played the dominant role in total consumption. At the beginning of the Sixties and especially after the Economic Reform introduced in mid-1965, personal consumption began gradually to dominate. These shifts were to a large extent due to changes in the policy of income redistribution and in business conditions, and to overall economic growth, all of which brought about shifts in demand in consumption patterns and in the structure of imports.
