Summary/Abstract: The article deals with a negative election campaign during previous presidential elections in Poland. As the object of analysis an attack on the private life of the politician was accepted. That included mainly: attack on the origin, state of health (physical and psychological), the appearance, addictions, family relationships, the religiousness and the sexuality. The authoress of the article assumed that “negative campaigning” refers to the actions a candidate takes to win an election by attacking an opponent rather than emphasizing his or her own positive attributes or policies.
