Summary/Abstract: Pension and disability insurance in Yugoslavia is a system of organized protection, based on self-management principles, of workers and their dependents against old age, reduction or loss of working capacity (disability), physical injury or death. Because of their importance from the point of view of social security and solidarity of working people, the benefits enjoyed by workers and their dependents in the aforementioned cases are guaranteed by the Yugoslav Constitution and the republican and provincial constitutions. To ensure equal treatment for all working people in Yugoslavia, benefits deriving from the pension and disability insurance scheme are basically governed by federal, republican and provincial laws.
