Summary/Abstract: Further on, contemporary projects of „democracy“, „rule of law“ and „market economy“ are considered, and critical arguments are presented from the latest research in the sphere of political, economic and law theory. The author supports the view that, criticizing already realized modern projects and institutions, in which they have been incorporated, in fact implies rejection of part of the ideal content and epistemiology of the Enlightenment. At the same time, it would be a radical mistake to deny all the heritage of the Enlightenment and especially ideals of freedom, and of rationality which is a necessary instrument for freedom The paper discusses the links between modern social projects and the Enlightenment. Through his methodological remarks, the author gets involved in the contemporary discussion of the Enlightenment, which tries to answer the following questions: Is a general historiographic concept of „Enlightenment“ reasonable? Does an „Enlightenment project“ exist? The answer to the first question is positive and the answer to the second question is negative – there is no one unique project of the Enlightenment; in fact, there is a multitude of them
