Summary/Abstract: In the first part of an article, the author offers an overview of the historical development of freedom of religion in the United Kingdom and in particular the position of the Church of England. The second part discusses the legal framework regulating the right of religion. In particular, it explains the adoption of The Human Rights Act, which implements the rights under the European Convention on Human Rights. In the third part of the text, there is a theoretical overview of the freedom of religion and what it means. In the fourth section lists the most characteristic case law in the UK courts and the European Court of Human Rights.
