Summary/Abstract: PIRLS, which is named Development Project in International Reading Skills, is applied to 10 year old students every five year. Reading test which is applied to fourth grade students determines students’ reading skills according to different text types. Two types of texts from 2011 PIRLS are translated into Turkish and applied in three schools. Through these questions, students’ skills are identified according to higher order thinking skills. The students are asked to find the information given in the text clearly, make direct inferences, interpret and integrate the information and thoughts given in the text and evaluate the texts in terms of language use and content. The results will be discussed in line with reading achievement which is targeted in Turkish curriculum.
