Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to promote and capitalize on the contribution of the19th century Transylvanian cultural elite, to the field of Roman archaeological heritage, namely: colonia Ulpia Traiana Augusta Dacica Sarmizegetusa Metropolis. The archaeological researches carried out between 1881 and 1893 were led by Gábor Téglás and Pál Király. Their work, which will be translated and reinterpreted in the present study, focused on five great Roman structures: the temple of the Palmyrene Gods, Mithras’ sanctuary, the Roman bath, the Roman houses and the amphitheatre.
