Summary/Abstract: Identity seems familiar and simple until someone tries to define and specify it. Then it appears as quite complex phenomenon embracing unique qualities of character, memories of personal and cultural experience, knowledge, environmental influences and other social and psychological elements. These elements constitute a system of sophisticated interactions which surpasses the boundaries of personality. Identity can be classified by the concepts of sex, race, community, national identity, and culture. The article analyses masculine identities in their socio-cultural environment and discusses the forms of their expressions and representations in media art.
