Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the issues of primary prevention of risk behaviour both on the theoretical and on the empirical plane. It focuses on the forms of manifestations of risk behaviour of second stage primary school pupils in selected schools of the Olomouc Region and on the methods and instruments which the schools use to prevent and address these manifestations. Under prevention, we understand the professional application of procedures to reduce the occurrence of and to prevent the spread of risk behaviour in schools and school facilities among children, pupils and students. These do not always connote specific interventions. Preventive measures can be understood as educational exposure to the development of positive social behaviour and communication, psychosocial skills and the leadership to an overall healthy lifestyle, accompanied by growing resistance to the negative phenomena which the pupils can and do encounter.
