Summary/Abstract: Originally the healing process was a clerical task. Later, with secularization of medicine, it transferred to the hands of the worldly professionals. Separation of healing of the body and of the spirit had an eff ect on the previously common and broad vocabulary. In the medical dictionaries of the 20th and 21st century less and less words can be found which have theological-religion related origins and meanings. Th e author tries to save and briefl y present the words related to Christian piety presently still existing in the vocabulary accepted in the Hungarian medical language, thus expressing his hopes that holistic healing can soon be reborn.
