GEOHERITAGE PROTECTION OF SERBIA – PRESENT SITUATION AND PERSPECTIVES

Summary/Abstract: Neglected for decades in relation to the biodiversity and cultural heritage protection, the geoheritage protection has become a new concept, having more and more supporters in the world. The middle of the 1990s marked the beginning of the systematic geoheritage protection in Serbia. The basic components of that process are represented in the paper with the aim of evaluating the situation and noticing the key problems.
