INFLUENCE OF SALT PRODUCTION ON DEVELOPMENT OF INDUSTRY IN THE TUZLA VALLEY

Summary/Abstract: This paper analyses influence of salt production on development of industry in the Tuzlavalley. Industry is the most developed economic activity in the Tuzla valley, which employs thehighest number of workers and has influenced for the most part on development of the region. Inthe Tuzla valley, two major mineral deposits of rock salt have been discovered and researched todate. The first deposit of salt water and rock salt was found in the centre of Tuzla, and the other wasfound on the slopes of Majevica Mountain (Tetima). For such a complex development in the Tuzlavalley were considered the elements of social, economic and physiognomic nature that were specialand significant for the transformation, respectively for changes of the space, with its orientation ofspatial development of economic activities, social and technical infrastructure.
