Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the conception of mirror stage offered by Lacan. The conception originally interprets a particular stage of early development of the individual. The article proposes the viewpoint that the subject which is established during the stage of mirror is understood as a gap between involuntary identifications through human gestalt, which is implemented by the functions of imagination. An infant in his environment begins to distinguish the human shape as Other, simultaneously perceiving in reference to himself. Thus gestalt of the Other becomes an exemplary form of identification which determines identity instability of the individual. He can meet himself only through intermediary images of the Other, an identification substitute which hides him from himself. The conclusion made in accordance with the article is as follows: the individual offered by Lacan is a mandatory alignment structure which shackles the Ego with the Other. This alignment ensures their constant proximity but at the same time avoids their convergence.
