Summary/Abstract: "The Lure" happened to be the most original fruit of the Polish cinema’s loins in 2015. Although it pushed the envelope as far as some only wished they could, this debut feature enjoyed little commercial success at the Polish box office. Sundance win, however, gained the film an international recognition. This article follows subsequent production stages of Agnieszka Smoczyńska’s film and tries to answer the question: what sets her picture apart from others produced in Poland? The authors, in their case study, describe the filmmaker’s unusual approach to genres and cinematic clichés. Moreover, basing on conversations with the creators of "The Lure", the authors of the article take a closer look at how the film was financed, how the script came together and how the work on set went. They also emphasise the importance of the differences between the advertising in Poland and the United States – everything analysed from the perspective of the production studies.
