The language used in filings and the trading activity of foreign companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to assess if the trading activity of foreign companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange is indifferent to the language employed in those companies’ filings. We hypothesize that the use of a foreign language in a report of a company should have a negative impact on a trading activity, as it elevates information asymmetry. The results show that companies that prepare their periodic reports in Polish are more actively traded than other foreign companies.
