Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the current state of the food supply of population by potatoes in several territories of the Russian Federation (Nizhny Novgorod region and Volga Federal district). Some tendencies of development of the industry of potato production are revealed. A system of measures to increase the economic efficiency of the industry is proposed.
