Summary/Abstract: The government policy of Northern Cyprus was described in the article that led todismember-ment of the state. The aim of this paper was to show a process to establish quasi-state in which the European countries took a part. The author talked about the reasons of creation the conflict, subse-quent conquests of different nations and governancesystems. Particular attention was given to the interest diversity of outside countries – England, Turkey and Greece which became determinant factor in forming the island status quo. Internal situation on Cyprus is concluded in two ideas enosis and taksim. First of them was based on the idea of favoring aunification with Greece, while the other was heading in the direction of separating anarea for Turkey. Domestic fights were caused by these ideas and brought an intervention. The United Nations Emergency Forces were sent to Cyprus, but it could not prevent splitting of the country and so called the green line became a re-sult of this conflict. To this date the northern part of the state is occupied by the Turkish army. Theconflict caused many difficulties, especially for the civilians. The attempts were being made to in-fluence on Turkey’s government by ETPC, but withoutany result. Yet, the Cyprus is an example of the state where any outside intervention may turn out to be disastrous.
