Summary/Abstract: In the U.S. an appeal is a plea for relief from a judgment or decision. A review is the process by which the appeal is conducted. An appealable decision is one that can receive immediate appellate review. Appealable issues are commonly limited to final judgments. The federal "final judgement rule," gives jurisdiction of appeals of final decisions by district courts to the courts of appeals in most cases. There are exceptions to the final judgment rule. The author deals with the appealable issues in the US federal court system.
