Summary/Abstract: The region of Gornje Polimlje extends from spring of the river Ljuča to Ribarevine, village in the vicinity of Bijelo Polje. It spreads over an area of 1,486 km2 in a SE-NW direction. The natural borders are Prokletije mountains in the south, Mokra and Smiljevica mountains in the east and Komovi and Bjelasica mountains in the west. In the north-west it extends to Donje Polimlje. Among natural features which influence the development of fruit growing, the most significant are climate and soil. The influence of these two elements of nature on development of fruit growing in this region, is most expressed in river valleys and lower mountain part.
