Summary/Abstract: When the social anthropologist does examinations in and out of an institution, he mostly plays a double game, and eventually comes across questions such as: “Where does the border between “work” and “research” actually lie?”, “Which of the things we learned in the field can we use?”. Examining everyday life becomes problematic when the researcher has to perform more than one role: he works in a specific institution and, at the same time, he does research. This puts him in another position which, at times, blurs the border. Both positions suggest a different status of the researcher, which is connected with certain areas, appearances and types of behaviour. In my report I will problematize the rationalisation of a possible interactional approach as a rationalisation of my anthropological methodology in examining my dissertation thesis: “Romanies and Institutions: Forms of Mediation”.
