Summary/Abstract: Although some of Gellu Naum’sbooks from the 1950s and 1960s are fre-quently reissued (the two volumes of TheBooks with Apolodor), others are oftenavoided by critics and literary historians anddismissed as Naum’s circumstantial attemptsto acknowledge and follow the norms ofsocialist realism. This separation is the symp-tom of a divisive ideology that canonizesand rejects: the distinction between a majorand a minor oeuvre generated, in this case,an irreconcilable separation that sidelinedpolitically “tainted” writings, potentiallydepriving them of future critical rereadings.I intend to argue that their minority is worthrevisiting – although aesthetically flawedand propagandistic, they reveal significantaspects concerning Naum’s literary produc-tion in the 1950s and early 1960s.
