Summary/Abstract: The analysis offers an overallperspective on the reading response to mag-ical-realist novels from the 1960s to the pres-ent day, focusing on Romanian literature inthe new millennium. Within this context, Ishall analyze Bogdan Popescu’s novel, Who-ever Falls Asleep Last (2007), looking for thetextual, paratextual and contextual causesthat may explain the marginalization and fallinto the waste zone “of the great unread” ofa “masterpiece.”
