Summary/Abstract: The following study is aimed at presenting the concept of mythical space mainly based upon the theories of Ernst Cassirer and Mircea Eliade. In Cassirer’s view, mythical thinking involves a basic mental opposition between the sacred and the profane. There is an inherent presence of mystery, of the supernatural and hidden connotations and connections which are disclosed at particular moments. The second part of the paper deals with the representation of mythical spaces in the works of Jorge Luis Borges and Paulo Coelho.
