Summary/Abstract: The author discusses important factors of influence of the technological and socio-cultural phenomenon “virtual reality” on subjective well-being. The differences of this kind of environment are presented in comparison with ordinary physical reality. It outlines the immense advantage in the performance of hardware-software configurations over the usual rate of information processing in the human mind. Thus, the virtual environment forces the user to respond according to the software tempo. The consequence is that subjective experiences prove to be “nailed” exclusively to the “Present” instance of the time vector. This presents a very serious challenge for the human mind in order to maintain a satisfactory level of subjective well-being because, as the new experimental data suggests, in the normal physical environment the experiences of the mentally healthy person are much more involved in predicting the possible future.
