Summary/Abstract: This paper attempts to answer the question to what extent the Council Recommendations adopted in the context of the European semester are implemented in Poland. The Recommendations address coordination of economic policies of the EU Member States. Their implementation by Poland was assessed on the basis of the Country Reports prepared annually by the Commission and adopted by the Council. Those Reports compare the Recommendations prepared for EU states in the previous year with their implementation one year later. The conclusions drawn from the analysis suggest that, despite a number of weaknesses, the coordination of economic policies in the EU within the European semester constitutes a useful instrument of adjusting actions of the EU Member States in various economic areas to previously agreed priority objectives of the organisation.
