Summary/Abstract: The aim of the study is to present trends in the area of contemporary international migrations in the last quarter century. The study consists of four parts. The first analyzes the changes in the volume and dynamics of migration, the second examines changes in the direction of immigration, the third emigration, and the fourth discusses remittances. The results show that the scale of migration and its importance in the world economy have increased. There have been minor changes in migration directions. The dominant share of developed countries in the choice of host countries has increased. The country with the largest number of immigrants is still the US. The country from which most people emigrated became India, followed by Mexico and Russia. The greatest intensity of migration occurred between developing countries. There has been an increase in remittances, mainly to the South.
