Summary/Abstract: Vytautas BRĖDIKIS was born in 1930 in Biržai. In 1955 he graduated as an architect from Vilnius Institute of the Fine Arts. From 1984 he was a professor. From 1988 till 1993 he was a rector of Vilnius Academy of the Fine Arts and authored fifty-six architectural projects. He was awarded many prizes among which are: the Lenin prize in 1974, the USS R Council of Ministers prize in 1975, and the Lithuanian Government Prize in 1984. Also he was decorated with the Lithuanian Duke Gediminas order of the third degree, the medal of Lithuanian independence, the Golden order of a “Knight of Architecture”. Brėdikis is a member of the Santara Council of Nation’s House and of the Board of Žuvininkai Union.
