Summary/Abstract: This review article is an overview of Krzysztof Stępnik’s “Henryk Sienkiewicz. Studies of press microbiography” (“Henryk Sienkiewicz. Studia z mikrobiografiki prasowej”, Lublin 2016), which presents an innovative and valuable approach to selected facts from the life of Henryk Sienkiewicz (including the time of the Great War and its duration). They are “sensational” because they constitute a basis for conducting a scientific “investigation”. Crucial here is a different than before methodological approach that puts press sources on an equal footing (and sometimes even higher) with the traditional intimistics.
