Summary/Abstract: The revolutionary changes in set designing of 1960s – 1970s played a special role in renewal of figurative language of the Ukrainian theater of the second half of the 20th century. The article has considered the creative work of producers M. Reznikovych, O. Uteganov, A. Litko, V. Bulatova with set designers D. Borovsky, M. Kovalchuk, T. Medvid, D. Lider, who, masterfully interfering into stage actions, ruined obsolete matrices artistic thinking. Study of the said artistic retrieval had not obtained its thorough interpretation, and this fact stipulates topicality for such theater study survey. The goal of the study is the exposition of image-bearing simulation process by a set designer in a structure of inner drama world, creation of visual imagery providing for interaction of conflict origins, separate in a drama its incompatibility, struggle a wide scale of sense categories in plasticity. Methodology. The methodological-theoretical working principles are based on interdisciplinary approach which selection is provided by synthetic nature of a theater.
