Summary/Abstract: This article discusses the ways in which innovation education (ie) has developed in the icelandic school system; its character, pedagogy, ideology, ethical dimensions, and practical applications. In addition, it provides an account of iceland's cooperation with other european countries in the further dissemination and development of innovation education, through the minerva project, named innoed. In addition, this article considers the ie model as a potential tool for use in the innoed virtual reality learning environment (vrle) and puts forward ie as a potential tool for use in the design and technology education cross curriculum and cross continent.
