The influence of development stages of web-technologies on the models of library and information services

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the work. The research is aimed at analyzing and generalizing the characteristics of Internet technology platforms that have become the basis for developing the concepts of the Library x.0. The models of library and information services of library users in every epoch of the Internet are explored through the prism of the development of concepts from Library 1.0 to Library 3.0. The research methodology is to apply comparative-historical and informational approaches. Using these methods allows comparative analysis of the characteristics of Internet technology platforms and exploring the specifics of information flows (resources and services) and information needs of users through knowledge of properties, methods of information and means of social communication (documentary, informational, cognitive). The scientific novelty of the work is to build models of library and information services of users in accordance with the development of Internet technology platforms and concepts of the Library x.0 and to develop recommendations for improving the satisfaction of information needs of users. Conclusions. The construction of a library information service strategy should be based on a marketing study of user needs and in close connection with changes in the telecommunications sector.
